From Fugitives' Drift to Nambiti Game Reserve

Well, after a lovely breakfast we left Fugitives' Drift. It was still raining, although thankfully it wasn't quite as cold.

We had a two-hour journey to Nambiti Game Reserve, but it ended up taking three hours because the roads were in pretty bad condition and very sticky in places. We nearly got stuck once, but Mark reversed and managed to get the car up the hill on the second attempt. I thought I was going to have to get out and push!

When we arrived at the game reserve, we were told at the main gate to park and wait for a pick-up. This is because you have to cross electric cattle grids to get into the residential area of the reserve.

We were greeted with hot towels, a cocktail and lunch, which was a rather lovely welcome. We also discovered that we were staying on a full-board basis. We had thought we were only booked for one safari, but it turns out we have four!

After checking into our tent, which is very nice, we headed out on our first safari.

We had some fantastic sightings, including wildebeest, giraffe, both black and white rhino, hippo, zebra, kudu, lions, some lovely birds and some small deer-like creatures.

We stopped for a sundowner before heading back to the lodge for a quick drink and then dinner.

It has certainly been a busy few days, and tomorrow brings another early start, with a game drive at 6.30am. Hopefully we will see plenty more wildlife!
